What are the special
requirements for the course Author?
The Design-a-Course Author is written 100% in Java and requires the
JDK 1.2 runtime (included with the full setup download) to be installed
on the developers machine. However, it IS NOT required for your students
to take courses.
Do My Students need special
plugins to take online courses?
No. There is no need to download or install anything. Your students simply
point their browsers to your custom-created URL (example:http://www.designacourse.com/yourcompanyname)
and the course downloads and starts automatically. The platform for Design-a-Course
is, in other words, the web browser and not a particular operating system.
What browser must be
used to access published courses?
In order to successfully run Design-a-Course, your students' browsers
must meet certain system requirements. In technical terms, their browsers
must be HTML 4.01 compliant and must support JavaScript 1.1.
The general minimum browser requirements for running Design-a-Course
are Microsoft Internet Explorer version 5.x or newer or
Netscape 7.x or later. Design-a-Course has been tested
with, and is known to work
in Internet
Explorer 5.0, 5.5 and 6.0 on Windows 95/98/ME/2000/NT,
and Mozilla 0.9.3 on Linux. Other browsers and versions
of the above may also work if they support system requirements
noted here.
Browser Settings
